April 21 - Wind is down as somewhat as predicted and we expect to leave for N. Cat Cay middle of the day. Atlantic still has substantial swells from the last few days, but it’s only a ten mile trip onto the Great Bahama Bank to position ourselves to go to Chub Cay tomorrow. Our neighbor leaves for Gun Cay at about 11:00 and we leave for adjacent N. Cat Cay at 11:45. Departure from dock is uneventful but trip out of the channel requires care as ocean swells are coming in as is tide and tide is setting us towards the outside of the channel. We leave the channel and turn down (generally South) towards Barnett Harbor, an entrance into the Grand Bahama Bank between as long line of small uninhabited islets from the Atlantic. The wave action in the ocean is moderate and once we enter The Bank it diminishes substantially. We anchor off of the airstrip at the back of N. Cat Cay in the vicinity of the designated anchorage. Whole trip only took two hours. Winds are 12/15 knts and we have no lee from the wind direction (N/NW) so the anchorage is a bit rocky, but the boat is handling it well. We’re finally "on The Bank and will set out very early tomorrow to try to make Chub Cay/Frazier’s Hog Cay in daylight. It might we a while before the next post because it is questionable whether my Broadband card will work at Chub Cay. We’ll see.
