St. Martin to Dominica

3/14 - Arrived at Simpson Bay on the Dutch side of St. Martin right on schedule, circled the outer harbor a number of times getting ready to enter the inner harbor lagoon (taking in jack lines and putting out dock lines and fenders) - lots of large vessels, sail and power, on anchor in the outer harbor, and entered the inner harbor when the swing bridge over the entrance opened right on schedule.  Unlike some places we’ve been, bridge tender was spot on… Read the Full Log Entry

Buck Island

1/20-21-Weather’s great on Sunday, clear skies and nice breezes. Monday it’s very humid and it rains on and off for a good part of the day. I go to the Laundromat and the Pueblo supermarket, managing to do both when it’s not raining and otherwise just putter around the boat.

1/22-Kryss arrives by air around 5:00 pm.

1/23-Herman comes promptly and installs the new starter, saying old one is being rebuilt and that he’s working on sourcing replacement rudder/autopilot arm… Read the Full Log Entry

Punta Gorda to St. Thomas Winter 2018/19

11/29 - Crew is all here.  Lloyd (Lloyd Crocker) flew in on the 26th and Greg flew in last night.  We leave at daybreak.  Winds are mild out of the Northeast.  I can’t back away from the dock so have to spin the boat in forward to get out of the canal for the first time.  It’s tight.  Just catch one of the davits on a piling a bit, but no damage done and we’re off.  Motor until out of the Boca Grande inlet… Read the Full Log Entry

Tuesday May 30 - Finished emptying out the Apartment and provisioning the boat and removing all of the "permanent" lines from the Boca slip in the afternoon and then left for Lake Boca around 3:30 p.m. Hung out in the Lake overnight.

Wednesday May 31 - Weather is sunny and winds are moderate. Left the Lake for Key Biscayne around 8:00 but due to miscues with the bridge schedule didn't get out of the Hillsboro Inlet until around 10:00. Wind is on our… Read the Full Log Entry

April - May 2016

Preliminary- Kryss had to go to New York prepare for her Summer Trios performance, so I went to Cruiser's Forum to seek crew for the trip. Received responses from a number of interested qualified parties and decided to enlist the assistance of Patrick Rousseau from Punta Gorda Florida for the trip. He had just the right mix of experience, physical fitness, schedule flexibility, and apparently mild temperament to seem like the perfect choice. Turns out he was. In… Read the Full Log Entry

Short Trip April 2015

4/15-Left YARCOBR at around 4:00 p.m. (high tide) and anchored in North East corner of Lake Boca. Plenty of water and quite a few sailboats.

4/16-Left Lake Boca at around 7:00 a.m. and went to Hillsboro by way of the ICW. It was high tide and I was tempted to go out of Boca Inlet but windlass wouldn't pull anchor over roller (swivel was stiff) and I wouldn't go out into the ocean until I resolved the problem. During trip to Hillsboro I used main halyard winch to bring anchor the rest… Read the Full Log Entry

Old Bahama Bay to Boca

June 20 - Hang out for the day at the pool and at the Little Bahama Bank beach at Old Bahama Bay Marina catching our breath.  It would have been a perfect day to go across the Stream to the States, but we need a rest and we had planned to stay for two/three nights anyway.  Weather report is benign, so it shouldn’t matter.

June 21 - Rent a car and tour the Island.  Go to Grand Lucayan National Park which has a very extensive cave system (we could only see into the… Read the Full Log Entry

Underway from Green Turtle Cay to Old Bahama Bay

June 17 - Left for Crab Cay anchorage at North end of Great Abaco Island in sunshine after a brief rain shower and pull into the anchorage with dark clouds threatening to the South. We’re out of the Sea of Abaco and onto the Little Bahama Bank. Winds were light and passage was uneventful with jib and “iron jenny”. Could have just sailed but wanted to get into the anchorage before the typical afternoon thunderstorms came. Current summer weather pattern is not to our liking.

June 18 -… Read the Full Log Entry

Green Turtle Cay

June 14 - Nice sunny morning and we set off for Green Turtle Cay in light winds. Predictions are for winds to build to steady 15/20 for the next few days so it’s a good time to go through Whale Cay passage before seas can build. (Unless you are a very shallow draft vessel you must go through Whale Cay passage to pass further north through the Sea of Abaco. Whale Cay passage takes you out into the ocean around Whale Cay and back into the Sea of Abaco through a narrow pass and it is notorious… Read the Full Log Entry
